Terre de Paris

In collaboration with Yprema, a waste disposal industry in the area of Paris, Terre de Paris is a research on the different material present underneath the Parisian ground. Only a few types of ground aren’t available for recycling: one of them is the clay extruded from the grounds during public works. Once flatten as an archeological site, it reveals human traces: waste of earth, tars, brick, ceramic, rusted metal, pebbles, plastic, etc. Terre de Paris invites us to interact with this stratum that is often hidden beneath the pavement that is earth clay. The viewer is invited to touch this invisible stratum, to walk on it and to pause for a moment to come into contact with this neglected material and natural physical properties.
